Maggie graces the cover of the Sunday Times' Style magazine today, under the headline 'Girlfriend: Why we all fall for Maggie Gyllenhaal'. You can read the full article and interview with the 'charming, articulate and twinkly' Maggie (over some blackened cod) here and I've scanned the images for you below. In one of these pictures, Maggie looks like she's being hugged by a hundred giant centipedes - brrr....
For a taste of the Gyllenfrost that accompanies a mention in an interview of Maggie's brother having acted with Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain, watch this interview with Harry Smith for the Early Show that took place this week.
Although it's early days, The Dark Knight is a record breaker at the United States box office, beating the opening day record of Spider-Man 3 and placing Spidey's opening weekend record in jeopardy.
Updated to add that The Dark Knight has indeed smashed the previous opening weekend record, making Hollywood history!
And now it's the turn of Europe - hold on to your capes because tomorrow the Batman circus reaches London Town and Leicester Square!
Gemma and Toby get ready for PoP
Thanks to Jodi for the heads up that Gemma Arterton is in the August edition of Total Film, accompanied by a brief Q&A on the Prince of Persia. It turns out that Gemma is not the only PoP co-star to feature. The article is about Guy Ritchie's Rocknrolla, which stars Gemma and Toby Kebbell, both of whom have roles in PoP. Incidentally, the fine photographs in this entire feature were 'directed' by Ritchie himself. I've attached the scans here.
Toby describes his involvement in PoP - a world away from Rocknrolla - as 'just a bit of good gas' and says: 'We're literally doing costume and make-up tests and we've been doing horse riding in Spain... So yeah, Ive got a very glamorous life going on at the moment, I'm very blessed.'
Despite the horseriding practice with Jake in England earlier this month, Gemma has also been riding in Spain for PoP: 'It was the most fantastic, amazing experience.' She goes on to say that PoP has 'got a real sultry feel to it... It's just where it's set and the costumes and everything but it's quite sultry and sexy and edgy. But there's loads of action and quite a lot of humour. My character's absolutely brilliant! [Laughs] She's a really cool character.'
Gemma had met most of the Brits involved but, at the time of the interview, had not met Jake Gyllenhaal yet, even though, '... Jake and I are like together all the time. We play 'love interests' [Giggles]'. All suggesting that Jake and Gemma didn't do a screentest together for Gemma's selection process. Oh to be a fly on the minaret during this filming...
And talking of horseriding...
In the same edition of Total Film, I came across this short article on Heath's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus', in which Terry Gilliam aims 'to touch people's hearts... as Heath was able to do.'
